New patch management solution for desktop and server management

Attacks of hackers and malware are commonplace today and cause significant damage. In most cases, the attacks are caused by unpatched security vulnerabilities, for which security updates have long been available.

Frontrange Solutions wants to help companies here with the new software version 7.2 of the Desktop Server Management solution, because in the latest version DSM has already integrated patch management functions.

With Frontrange Advanced Patch Management, desktop and server software for physical machines and virtual machines is always up-to-date, according to the manufacturer.

With Frontrange DSM, Microsoft operating systems and applications are already protected. But now other applications such as Adobe Acrobat, Firefox, and WinZip can be protected in your infrastructure with a single, automated, and always-updated patch management solution.

Frontrange Advanced Patch Management for DSM is designed to provide complete protection against the most dangerous vulnerabilities by quickly installing operating system, application, and virtual machine patches. Increased security should provide the solution through automatic detection of vulnerabilities and closure of security vulnerabilities.

By automating all patching and rule-based patch rollout, the solution saves administrators time. Also by selecting and automatically downloading the right patches, updating your own systems is faster.

Frontrange Advanced Patch Management for DSM is designed to provide unified patch management for both physical and virtual machines.

Secure Hyper-V and vSphere servers including Exchange for free

If administrators want to back up virtual servers built on Microsoft Hyper-V or VMware vSphere hosts, Veeam Backup & Replication is one of the best. The manufacturer provides a free edition, with which administrators can secure adhoc virtual servers during operation.

The free version is neither limited in time nor in terms of the number of virtual servers. With the free expansion Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Exchange, you can also import Exchange databases of virtual servers and restore individual objects.

A server backed up with Veeam Backup & Replication can be restored to a different host or server. All you need to do is install Veeam Backup Free Edition on a server on the network.
Including Exchange Backup & Restore

If administrators back up an Exchange virtual server in this way, they can also access the Exchange databases with the free product Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Exchange .

In addition to read access, administrators can also restore individual objects from the Exchange Virtual Servers. The tool also supports Exchange Server 2010. Currently, Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Exchange is available as a beta version. Once the product is completed, the manufacturer fully integrates the feature into Veeam Backup Free Edition.

However, the free backup version does not support backup jobs and can only back up one virtual server at a time. If companies want to secure multiple servers at the same time, the Free Edition can be converted into a commercial version by means of a license file.

How to optimally use Veeam Backup & Replication and the Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Exchange add-on tool is shown in our step-by-step picture workshop, which can be started by clicking on the picture gallery.
